What is it about?
The present work succeeded in building a multi-state model using repeated-prevalence data. We show that high quality prevalence data can allow running analyses with acceptable accuracies in comparison with those obtained with a very demanding incidence registry.

Why is it important?
These results tend to support the use of repeated-prevalence data available in countries with no incidence registry. This may be the case of countries with high legal constraints on the collection of individual or limited-resource countries that cannot yet afford an incidence registry or that do not have yet the expertise to build such a system.
