What is it about?
Impulsive adolescents may be particularly likely to cheat in school. This study shows that students who regularly cheat and are impulsive actually cheat less when they learn in classrooms where the teacher emphasizes mastery, effort, and improvement.

Why is it important?
This is important because impulsive students may in particular be tempted to cheat; however, this research adds to the growing body of research suggesting that the temptation to cheat (and likelihood of cheating) is lowered when students learn in classrooms where mastery, effort, self-comparisons, and improvement are stressed (as opposed to stressing grades, test scores, and comparisons between students).
Perspectives
Cheating can be prevented; educators have a lot to do with it. if we structure classes so that the focus is on mastery, we take away the reason for cheating.
