What is it about?

We delivered a pragmatic instruction comprising discussion, analysis, small-scale research, and reflections on the Persian and English pragma-linguistic and socio-pragmatic complimenting conventions. The results suggested that the EFL learners were developing their metapragmatic awareness of target compliments.

Why is it important?

EFL learners' metapragmatic awareness still remains an under-researched issue.


We made recommendations for pragmatic teaching in EFL contexts and hope that these will empower EFL learners to become more effective communicators in today's globalizing world.
