What is it about?

Developmental language disorder (DLD) is a lifelong difficulty with all aspects of language. Speech therapists do not have enough tools to accurately diagnose DLD in young adults. This study shows that with adjustments to the scoring procedures, the Test of Integrated Language and Literacy Skills (TILLS) can be used to accurately diagnose DLD in college students.

Why is it important?

Diagnosis of DLD can help individuals who struggle with language get supports and accommodations to help them succeed in school and at work. This study provides clinicians with evidence to support using the TILLS to make this diagnosis for college students.
