What is it about?
The temporal and spatial characteristics of the particle cavity dispersed by laser-induced breakdown and its mechanism have been investigated. It has been found that the cavity evolves over three temporal phases: expansion, distortion, and separation.

Why is it important?
The particle cavity created during particle dispersion induced by laser-induced breakdown or plasma has been reported in the previous studies. However, how the particles cavity induced by the laser-induced breakdown is created, distorted, and separated is first analyzed in this research.
Perspectives

The distribution or movement of particles in the flow is difficult to control. Laser-induced breakdown could be a method to affect the particles in flow. This research has first analyzed the mechanism of the effect of LIB on particles.
