What is it about?

Radiators are the most commonly used room heating units. In order to evaluate the impact on the return temperature from the heat consumer sites, a new radiator model was proposed with consideration given to the set-back operation by the thermostatic radiator valves, over-dimensioning of the radiators and the radiator add-on fans. The idea here is to equip this model in the system-level simulations of district heating systems.

Why is it important?

Such radiator features (smart thermostatic valves, over-dimensioning of the radiator unit, and radiator add-on fans) are the future for the district heating systems so shall be considered in the system-level simulations. One of the major importance is the effort to be given in optimal operation of the district heating systems, by use of this new radiator model proposed.
