This is a case study of Bank Islam Malaysia (BIMB) to share the Islamic management Practices

What is it about?

Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (BIMB) is an Islamic Bank. Every operation and administration practices are based on Shariah. The workers must follow the Islamic behavior and ethics. It is against Shariah if we disobey Islamic doctrines. The way we dress, attending meetings, recreation programs, sports, etc. must follow the Shariah. Every decision is guided by Syura (majority consensus) and a person must be trained accordingly. Hence guided by the management to transform bank employees who become trustworthy and responsible is prevalent practice in BIMB where staff is given permission to perform the solat in the musolla and other Islamic activities are performed daily and weekly basis especially on Fridays. They are also granted leave to perform their Haj as an obligation for every able Muslims.

Why is it important?

This helps in enhancing Learning Outcomes (LOs) in an outcome based learning approach adopted by top business schools such as Harvard etc. This is to emulate the Islamic management practices and important learning tool for graduate students and practitioners alike.
