What is it about?

This chapter applies current methodological tools to provide new perspectives to a traditional topic, namely traces of Arabic in the Peninsular Spanish. The purpose of this paper is to shed light on the rivalry between Arabisms and Romance-based words that leads to the eventual loss of Arabisms. This contribution helps to expand our understanding about the presence of Arabisms in the history of the Spanish language.
