What is it about?

This article is meant to discover the way four rural English as a second language (ESL) teachers go about teaching idioms to their students. Teachers may teach in traditional or modern method, and this article is interested to know how these methods impact how students understand idioms, which are the most difficult part in learning English language.

Why is it important?

This article is important as the results can serve as a guide for rural ELS teachers when they teach idioms to their students. Given that this article takes into account various factors involving rural students, it hopes to help teachers make idiom learning easier for students.

Perspectives

Idioms are no doubt difficult to learn, especially for non-native speakers and requires a degree of understanding of the English language to be able to pick up on it quickly. Therefore, I think it is important to know that when teachers, especially rural ELS teachers, teach idioms to students, that the methods used are effective and suitable for the children. A good understanding of what is taught is necessary for students to be able to use what they learn later on. This article has been able to identify the result of each method and hopefully, this will better the teaching of idioms to students.
