What is it about?

In this study, an overview of the relationships between the physical aspects of the home-work environment and mental health is provided. It shows that several aspects of the home-environment have been well-studied in relation to mental health, such as noise, privacy, and acoustics, while other aspects, such as biophilic elements, received less attention.

Why is it important?

This research is important as it shows which aspects of the home-work environment are important for employees' mental health. Especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, employees, employers, and workplace managers should understand which aspects of the home-work environment can be improved to support mental health.

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it gave me insights in how to design my own home-workplace. It provides very relevant and practical guidelines that we can all start using now that working from home might be here to stay.
