Why is it important?

We know that elevated metabolic risk factors serve as a risk for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. We investigated the association between metabolic risk factors and brain health in three racial groups. Our findings highlight the important of all inclusive research to fully understand how metabolic risk factors impact various racial/ethnic groups.

Perspectives

It was a pleasure writing this article with several prominent co-authors who provided various skills and expertise to the final paper. We hope others are inspired by this article and continue to increase participation of diverse populations less represented in research studies. This will allow us to better understand the impact of metabolic risk factors on brain health in various racial/ethnic groups in an attempt to ultimately reduce dementia risk.
