What is it about?

This paper features a perspective on the challenges libraries face when considering a migration to federated access. The benefits for the end-users in their research experience as a result of federated access is explored along with how SeamlessAccess makes the UX even better.

Why is it important?

The pandemic put front and center the difficulties the user faces when attempting to use IP-based authentication, and how this user experience is degraded by the unnecessary friction that occurs when authentication is based on user location as opposed to user identity. Data shows that introducing authentication at the point of need in the user research journey is a more intuitive experience.

Perspectives

I think this article will be helpful to librarians who are considering a change in their authentication modality from location-based access to federated identity and access management.
