What is it about?

Soil is one of the most important environmental factor which influences many aspect of human life. It is the key factor for sustainable agricultural productivity human health and enhances environmental quality. The application of excessive use of fertilization and pesticide for enhancing the crop decreases the soil quality. Further industrialization is one of the most important factor which affect the soil quality and ultimately it has adverse affect to the human health..

Why is it important?

This work is based on phyto remediation aspect, in which polluted or toxic metal rich soil can be used for growing the aromatic and medicinal plants. We find that in copper toxicity plant is growing well secondly the menthol content was higher in higher amendments. Thus growing aromatic and medicinal plants in metal rich soils can be a sustainable and environment friendly approach to obtain metal free commercially important product. Thus this can be used as an alternate cash crop in toxic metal rich soil ( near industry) by farmers for maintaing the socioeconomic aspect.

Perspectives

Metal toxicity is a great concern due to rapid industriallization and other factors. We should effort to protect our environment and maintain ecology.
