What is it about?
This study is concerned about the free vibration analysis of an aluminum beam coated with functionally graded material. Main field of interest is the effect of coating thickness on natural frequencies, while the effect of slenderness and material parameters are also considered.

Why is it important?
FGM coatings can be used instead of ceramic coatings and are expected to have a superior lifespan eliminating the delamination problems of ceramic coatings.
