What is it about?

This is about recent findings in molecular biology and neuroimaging for identifing depression, based on evidence of subtyping that may enhance our understanding of biological foundations of depression, introducing the molecular diagnostics methods in clinical settings.

Why is it important?

Due to its amazing complexity of the major depressive disorder it is worthwhile to identify biological bases of conditions, if any.

Perspectives

There already are promising findings, but additional research to define biologically based depressive subtypes is needed and worthwhile.
