What is it about?

papaverine hydrochloride loaded Nano- transferosomal gel was prepared, characterized and clinically evaluated for treatment of erectile dysfunction. These unique formulations were found to be more effective compared to conventional gel. The present results encouraged further development and optimization of the formulation in terms of efficacy and toxicity.

Why is it important?

It is evident from the study that there is feasibility of delivering papaverine hydrochloride through transferosomal transdermal gel. Thus, the developed transdermal transferosomal formulation may prove to be a promising carrier for papaverine hydrochloride, especially due to their simple production and simplistic scale-up.

Perspectives

This publication presents a new study for management of erectile dysfunction. The goal of the present study was to formulate topical Nano carriers of the low cost vasodilator, papaverine hydrochloride as an alternative to the painful penile injections. Transdermal Nano- transferosomes , the ultraflexible Nano liposome, was used as a Nano carrier to enhance the penetration of the papaverine to the penis.
