What is it about?

We studied the degradation behavior of lacosamide. A total of 7 degradation products were analyzed and 4 degradation products under the oxidative conditions were detected and identified for the first time.

Why is it important?

The results of this study suggest that lacosamide was unstable under the acidic, alkaline, and oxidative stress conditions, and should be stored in a tightly sealed container, protected from oxidizing agents. The plausible degradation pathway for formation of the degradation products was laid out.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. This article also inspired my interest in impurity research.
