Why is it important?

Healthcare workers experience a lot of burnout and stress and are asked to take care of themselves usually by changing their lifestyle or being responsible for their work-life balance. SEED views the workplace and the work team as the way to support wellness, promoting collaborative and supportive approaches. However, it is important to know how to make SEED successful and understanding the role of leadership is critical.

Perspectives

Working in health is hard work. Compassion is needed for patients and families but I think staff don’t apply enough to themselves. Keeping staff well gets patients well and we need to know how to do it. I hope that healthcare leaders can read this and learn about the benefits of looking after them selves and their teams.
