Why is it important?

More research is needed to better understand how people experiencing socioeconomic deprivation are able to manage their health. In particular, the review highlights a lack of evidence from UK studies.

Perspectives

People experiencing socioeconomic deprivation face many complex challenges relating to their health and are more likely to have multiple long-term conditions yet less likely to engage in effective self-management strategies. Access to health services and self-management interventions must not only be more equal but equitable also.
