What is it about?

Wise use of healthcare resources is critical for reaching the population's demand. But the paradox of increased cost of treatment, medication and diagnosis to the lack of competition and accountability in the health sector lead to the inefficient performance of health care providers. In this paper, we have shown the level and factors associated with the technical efficiency of health facilities.

Why is it important?

Nowadays, the absence of even routing medication and laboratory workups is common in many countries and has become the usual appearance in the health sectors of developing countries like Ethiopia despite the large donations, government spending and users payment. this might be directly related to the inefficient use of the resources available. Despite this, evidence was scarcely generated to document the problem and the gap in the implementation. Therefore, this study tried to fill this gap. In our findings, more than half of the primary hospitals are performing below their scale of operation.
