What is it about?

Risk of death from COVID-19 may be increased by several risk factors, such as age, sex and presence of pre existing diseases. We investigated wheather the risk of death was also increased for patients admitted to the hospital during the peak of the first wave of COVID-19 in Brazil, when hospitals and clinics were overwhelmed by large number of people getting sick at the same time.

They also gathered information about the characteristics of people who died of COVID-19 in Brazil and tried to find things that we can change in the future to be better prepared for another pandemic.
