What is it about?

We perform the first real vision study of people over 50 years old, after vision correction using a new type of contact lenses, Light Sword Lens™, designed by us. As we show, such lenses with angularly changing optical power provide stable, high-quality vision at all functional distances from 33 cm to infinity. In addition, contrast sensitivity after correction is close to normal, healthy vision.

Why is it important?

There are many designs of corrective lenses designed to compensate for vision problems that occur after the age of 50. Especially the lack of accommodation becomes a problem for people in the modern, changing world where we have to constantly change the distance of our eyesight from the mobile phone to the environment, from the computer screen to our interlocutors. None of the solutions available on the market makes it possible to obtain high-quality vision at all distances with the same quality. So new performance lenses like the Light Sword Lens™ are in high demand.

Perspectives

This article is the culmination of the laboratory, optical stage of work on the development of a new method of vision correction after the age of 50. A successful culmination. Originally inspired by the Star Wars movie and focusing light into something like a lightsaber blade, the idea turned out to open up great prospects in ophthalmology and optometry. The next stage should be the creation of a hydrogel contact lens prototype and serious pre-implementation clinical trials. We are looking for an investor who would like to change the world with us and help millions of people by financing this stage.
