What is it about?

Everyone assumes that standardized hospital mortality models actually measure the impact of hospital process on in-hospital deaths. Re-analysis of actual data for English hospitals questions this assumption.

It would seem that the all-cause mortality in the community surrounding a hospital drives the in-hospital mortality and not vice versa.
