What is it about?

Investigates the trend in total deaths (all-cause mortality) which occur in English hospitals

Why is it important?

A repeating series of periods of higher proportion of deaths in hospital can be observed. Periods of higher in-hospital deaths only ever occur during unexplained periods of higher all-cause mortality (out of hospital) which are also accompanied by periods of higher unexplained emergency admissions.

Perspectives

The periods of higher death in hospital appear to only occur during outbreaks of a new type of infectious agent, see http://www.hcaf.biz/Publications_Full.pdf for a full list of papers.
