What is it about?
According to demographic forecasting a cyclic series of admissions should not exist. Neurological (and many other) conditions all shown a recurring series of up/down movements in hospital activity. Such cycles must arise from a primary recurring event.

Why is it important?
Health care analysts are far too ready to put straight lines through every trend. Simple visual inspection shows that the residuals are not randomly distributed. A common cause is highly likely.
