What is it about?

While it is true that there is an ageing population the growth in admissions is in excess of that from demographic change. Indeed non-linear trends with peaks and troughs are common. Growth among those aged 75+ is especially higher than expected.

Why is it important?

We need to understand the fundamental mechanisms behind both the non-linear trends and the exceptional growth in admissions aged 75+ if we are going to implement genuine solutions to the real rather than the perceived problem(s).
