Forecasting year-end hospital admissions

What is it about?

Most acute activity occurs on a week day as do the majority of emergency discharges (admissions are counted at discharge date). Adjusting past monthly activity for work days allows an estimate of the likely activity profile in the current year. Using multiple years allows an estimate of the likely variation in the forecast for this year
