What is it about?

The apparent efficiency in English hospitals was calculated at specialty level using the HRG tariff. Apparent efficiency shows a typical fan-shaped distribution as specialty size (as admissions per annum) reduces. A series of gross 'low cost' outliers emerge which demonstrate the reality of 'creaming' within the HRG Tariff.
