Why is it important?

Paid carers are at the forefront of caring for people with learning disabilities and therefore it is essential that they are equipped with the knowledge and resources to enable people with learning disabilities at end of life care to receive good dignified care.

Perspectives

The term end of life care can often be frightening for paid carers as they often feel that it is a medical term that may require professional input. This article shows that paid carers are the people who provide day to day care for people with learning disabilities and their needs should be considered in terms of accessing training and knowing what resources are available.
