What is it about?

This article explores the expreiences of older people taking part in a day time disco as part of a programme to encourage and promote participation in a range of lesiure activites that are not traditonally accessed by older people. the articel explores the value the particpants put on the disco, the friendships and connections made , all of whci have added purpose and value to everyday life.

Why is it important?

Oler people are ofeten invisable within society and the ageing process often leads to lonliness and social isolation that has a negative impact on mental wellbeing taking a positve approach to ageing through engagement in a range of activitiies can help improvemnt mental health and wellbeing in this demographic.

Perspectives

Engaging in the research for this article demonstrated the importance of puposeful and meaningful activity for older adults , along with the need for social connection and rhe need to be valued as part of society
