What is it about?
In a military population, arthroscopic repair of Type II SLAP tear, combined with treatment of other shoulder conditions, had better results when compared to repair of Type II SLAP alone.

Why is it important?
Prior to publication of this study, it was previous unclear whether the additional procedures performed during surgery compromise the ultimate results of SLAP repair.
Perspectives
Our results support the hypothesis that concurrent treatment of other associated extra-articular shoulder conditions improves the overall success of SLAP repair, and the presence of these other conditions should be treated along with the SLAP tears in order to maximize clinical results.
