What is it about?

Patient safety is a major priority for healthcare organisations. However, patient safety extends beyond the behaviour and knowledge of individual staff members—to ensure high-quality care, organisations need to have a strong patient safety culture. This study aim to assess perceptions of patient safety culture among nurses at a hospital setting.

Why is it important?

Knowing the patient safety culture in the different areas of an organization is essential for the implementation of interventions tailored to each area. Are nurses' perceptions of patient safety culture influenced by their professional characteristics, such as their level of experience or whether they were in management roles?

Perspectives

Change is rarely easy for healthcare organisations, but more research into patient safety culture could help to identify areas of improvement and possible strategies, which may need to be tailored to the specific needs of each department.
