What is it about?

While there are relatively few COVID-19 cases, it is possible to do comprehensive contact tracing. This allows the possibility of researching the effect of asymptomatic infection. This is difficult to do if you cannot do comprehensive contact tracing since there is no other way to know who is infected an asymptomatic.

Why is it important?

Asymptomatic contagion could be a major factor in the rapid spread of the disease. But we do not know that for sure unless we study this.

Perspectives

COVID19 has a huge socioeconomic cost. I live in a community with a lot of poor people, who are likely to be disproportionately harmed if the disease runs out of control yet who also struggle when the economy collapses. We need to understand this disease to control it and limit the damage.
