What is it about?

Sixteen-Personality Factor Questionnaire Fifth Edition (16PF) scores can predict self-esteem. Until now, only a computer generated score was available. This self-esteem score, based on unitary model, is conceptually limited. As an alternative, we provide users of the 16PF regression equations (N = 234) to calculate through hand scoring a multidimensional model of self-esteem.

Why is it important?

Researchers and practitioners may wish to use alternate models of self-esteem in their work. The availability of another model of self-esteem derived from 16PF scores may increase the application of the 16PF in multicultural and other settings.

Perspectives

Special scores derived from the 16PF are among its advantages. When computerized scoring is not available nor cost effective, options such as the one we developed are important.
