Simulated Patients in Mental Health Occupational Therapy

What is it about?

This paper describes a pilot project which involved drama students as simulated patients in a mental health course in an occupational therapy entry level degree program. The occupational therapy students were surveyed re their perceptions of the simulation experience and its educational value.

Why is it important?

This paper describes a model of facilitating engagement with a simulated patient for large numbers of students in an occupational therapy course. The students who took part in this experience rated it highly in terms of fidelity and its contribution to their learning.
