What is it about?
Automated pupillometry is a new prognostic tool for patients with possible neurological injury. Our study shows that automated pupillometry has a high predictive value for poor outcome in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients, but a poor predictive value in patients suffering from other cardiac diseases.

Why is it important?
Our study provides important information to the multimodal approach to prognostication following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. This process is very important, extremely difficult and a lot of questions remain unanswered, but with our study we may have found a new tool that should be implemented in daily clinical practice in every cardiac ICU.
Perspectives
We have worked intensively with this study and we are very satisfied with the result. According to our hypothesis the study showed that automated pupillometry may have an important role in prognostication following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. This should be further investigated in future studies.
