What is it about?

Many chemicals found in the environment (either naturally occurring or originating from man) can cause health problems in people, especially if the chemicals find their way into foods. This paper discusses possible sources of chemicals in the environment and their potential risks to people if consumed.

Why is it important?

It is important to understand the risks of food contamination so that we can improve the quality of food for people. We can do this by monitoring for potentially dangerous levels and by actively trying to reduce levels of chemicals.

This article is a useful overview of potential hazards in foods, and hopefully will make people think about how they grow, prepare and eat food.
