What is it about?

After the collection and synchronization of all useful information available at the level of the heritage buildings of Rabat city (Morocco), we have developed a set of GIS-based tools capable of managing the dissemination of information on the heritage via thematic maps and 3D visualization. Therefore, to manage the carrying capacity of historical sites, by evaluating the latter through the case of the archaeological site of Chellah (Rabat, Morocco).

Why is it important?

This database will provide new opportunities for future work on new experiences, values, and directions that future management of historic buildings may need. Also, this initiative marks at the institutional level the commitment of the authorities at the highest level to ensure the preservation of the authenticity of the property, the conservation of its outstanding universal value, its development and the transmission of the whole heritage to future generations in accordance with the recommendations of the classification.

Perspectives

In the perspective of this study, the authors are planning to create an application that will allow the historic sites to be viewed, modified and managed by means of a programming process in combination with the results developed by GIS since the latter's software allows the developer to add new functionalities to its interfaces.
