Editorial introducing the British Journal of Educational Technology 2013 Special Issue on e-Leadership. Collects together statistics and commentary to analyse a range of articles with a specific focus on ‘e-leadership’ of and within educational technology.

Why is it important?

I argue that there is a significant gap in this field and that the term ‘e-leadership’, although not much in evidence in research contexts, is useful to distinguish the leadership of educational technology from any other kind of leadership. In the investigation of this emergent field, the editorial argues that the ‘e’ in 'e-leadership' is important.
