Help your respondents to discuss sensitive or abstract notions through the medium of a craft model. There is rich data in the discussions participants have when they are creating their model and also when they explain the model to others.

Why is it important?
Research was carried out into teacher trainees' perspectives about Mental health issues and teaching and learning. This is a current topic of concern .
Perspectives
Model making with craft materials was only one strand of my doctoral research but it produced the richest data and all participants enjoyed the experience and went on to use the method in their own teaching / research.
