What is it about?

This paper examines the effects of capital factors, including human, social, institutional and financial capitals on the development of rural women entrepreneurship. The focus is on a handloom sector in Manipur state of India. We have found that these capital factors are inter-related and encourage rural women to engage in entrepreneurial activities and influence strategic decisions.

Why is it important?

Our findings highlight the role of capital factors on rural women entrepreneurship and contribute to better understanding of how each capital factor is inter-related, as well as accumulated and utilized in rural women entrepreneurship development using the perspective of handloom sector in Manipur state of India.

Perspectives

Women's role in economic activity in Manipur state has been well recognized in India. There are large number of women involved in entrepreneurship both in urban and rural area. Hence, research related to women entrepreneurship in this area is interesting and will provide fruitful results for the field of women entrepreneurship.
