Why is it important?

Supervisors serve as critical components to employee wellbeing in and outside of work. This work is the first to demonstrate that training supervisors to support employees better can lead to actual improvements in employees' family lives, as it helps employees to improve their relationships with their spouses and their children.

This publication is unique as it demonstrates that training supervisors to be supportive has implications beyond the well-being of the direct target (employees) of improved support, and shows that it can actually foster improvements in relationships among their closest others (their spouses and children), which has implications for the well-being of the whole family.
