What is it about?
We study the factors that help to explain support for right-wing populist parties instead of left-wing populist parties when they compete with each other.

Why is it important?
We consider only those countries where the two types of populist parties compete with each other. This allows us to guarantee that our results are not an artifact of the different cases (countries) for the two types of parties
Perspectives
It shows that former knowledge about the factors that explain the support for right- and left-wing populist parties are only partially helpful in explaining the populist battle, i.e., the competition between both types of populist parties.
