What is it about?

We have created an online tutor for teaching college-level introductory astronomy. It contains 12,000+ questions for students to solve, with the aid of hints, solutions, and 200 lecture slides and audio recordings of lectures. The more that students study within the library, the better their performance on quizzes and examinations. Our materials have been used productively in classrooms and via distance learning at universities in New Mexico and California.

Why is it important?

We wish to extend access to college astronomy classes across the nation, by providing online resources for instructors and students to use both in classrooms and via distance learning. There is no charge to use our materials, and we are eager to collaborate with others.

Perspectives

Our online astronomy tutor allows learners to study at their own pace, and at a location and time of their own choosing.
