What is it about?

This study used weekly student workplace diaries and investigated when and how they discussed the acquisition of transferable or soft skills. It shows students learn these in many ways that are often not recognised by the students, their educational institution or their employers.

Why is it important?

It allows the students' own voice to be heard and shows how soft skills are acquired during internships. These are less tangible but arguably more important for lifelong learning and the development of reflective practitioners.

Perspectives

It was great to be able to hear from students in their own voices what and how they were learning in the workplace.
