What is it about?

E-entrepreneurship plays a key role in China’s economic development because it encourages new business ventures and innovation. Hence, understanding what motivates young Chinese people to engage in e-entrepreneurship is an important issue for regional and global development. This study explores key drivers of e-entrepreneurial intention.

Why is it important?

E-business is the wave of the present. Perhaps no country is adopting this principle more than China. This study results showed that entrepreneurship policy and e-entrepreneurship education influenced attitude towards e-entrepreneurship, subjective norms, and perceived behaviour control. However, only subjective norms and perceived behaviour control significantly influenced their e-entrepreneurial intention, but not people’s attitude towards e-entrepreneurship among young Chinese adults.

Perspectives

Perceived behavior control was found as the most significant predictor of e-entrepreneurial intention of young Chinese adults. Hence, with proper support and motivation, it is likely that e-entrepreneurship will become a common phenomenon among young Chinese adults.
