Why is it important?

The assessment of cultural competence in translation teaching has not been given enough attention. However, this competence is considered as essential in many models of translation competence and therefore it is one of the main focuses in translator training.

Perspectives

The assessment materials and tasks can cover many teaching aspects of cultural competence in translator training. The concept of assessment is also approached from a dynamic perspective, in which assessment is regarded as a tool for learning rather than as a mere grading system.
