What is it about?

How people spend their time is usually a good index of what they find important. How children spend their time is usually a good index of what their parents find important for them. In this study, 164 pupils of the 3rd and 4th grades were asked to describe their previous 24 hours. The information provided was coded and compared in terms of the children's demographic characteristics.`

Why is it important?

Although this is a rather old dataset (data collected in 2007), the topic of the parental priorities for their children often arises in parental counseling. Parents often follow the line of many extracurricular activities without bearing in mind what this means for the development of their children. This study gives some ideas to consider in deciding how to handle this topic.

Perspectives

When analysing those data, I was amazed by the existence of a pupil who received help from a private teacher for the course of religion. Years later, I am amazed by the relevance of this study to my clinical work.
