What is it about?

Ability to think critically is useful in every sphere of human activity. Using a micro model illustrating the manifestation of intertextuality in five different ways, this article emphasizes the significance of interactive texts (a combination of oral, written, and visual) for enhancing students' critical thinking.

Why is it important?

When considering the significance of student identities in language pedagogy, the methodology introduced here is useful for teaching critical thinking with a blend of teacher-centeredness and learner-centeredness. Students can be made aware of various intertextual links in a particular text in order to enhance their critical thinking competencies.

Perspectives

In this article, we have introduced a typology of intertextuality which has already been tested in EFL classes in productive ways. This article opens up new vistas to try out the pedagogical value of intertextuality, discourses, and interactive texts in the context of critical thinking.
