Why is it important?

One of the most important aspects of this investigation is the analysis of key factors that impel independent developers to reuse government datasets, especially in an attempt to understand whether it is driven by philanthropic feelings, sense of patriotism, adherence to a particular community or local neighborhood they live in or just professional curiosity.

Perspectives

Asking such a question as why and how independent developers participate in the open data movement could be quite a revealing approach in research as it could shed important light on a usually invisible mechanism of open data-driven participatory and networking trends among its intermediaries both public and private.
